Thank you for purchasing Aspects, the first simultaneous conferencing software for the Macintosh! We are dedicated to improving group productivity through innovative software for the personal computer, and welcome your comments and suggestions.
New Features in Aspects 1.03:
---------------------------
• Copy Chat Box: By popular demand, Aspects now allows you to copy the contents of the Chat Box to the Clipboard, using a new “Copy Chat Box to Clipboard” command on the Edit menu. You can use this feature to capture a discussion you have had in the Chat Box and then paste it into a word processing document. There the contents can be edited, printed, or saved for future reference.
• Compatibility with AppleTalk Remote Access (ARA): With ARA, you can have several remote users connect to your network via modems. Once connected, these users can participate in conferences using Aspects as though they were part of your local network. Please note that, if you are using AppleTalk Remote Access, then all members of a conference must be using Aspects 1.03. Earlier versions of Aspects are not compatible with AppleTalk Remote Access.
• Improved Operation with Shiva Dial-in: With these changes, you should find it easier to locate conferences and navigate zones when using low speed modems with Shiva Dial-in, especially when running under System 7.0.
• Automatically Dismiss Information Messages: Also by popular demand, we have added a new feature that automatically dismisses non-critical information messages after about 10 seconds. These messages include things such as “Sally has left the conference” or “The moderator has taken control away from you.” In earlier versions of Aspects, many of our customers noted that a conference could not continue if one of these messages was on the screen and the user was temporarily away from their Macintosh. Aspects 1.03 eliminates this problem. You will also find it easier to coordinate large conferences with this change.
Suggestions For Using Aspects 1.03
--------------------------------
1. When more than one person is working in a word processing document, tabs may be incorrectly placed on the ruler if the document is scrolled horizontally. We suggest that all users scroll their documents to the left before placing tabs onto the ruler.
2. In free-for-all mediation, using undo while multiple users make changes to a drawing document may lead to a “critical inconsistency”. Remember to coordinate the use of undo in Draw with other users in the conference to avoid this problem. Please see the section “Multiuser Constraints” in Chapter 5 of the manual for a further explanation of critical inconsistencies.
3. If you find that Aspects requires more memory than is available on your Macintosh, there are several things you can do to make more memory available:
(a) Set your Macintosh to start-up with the Finder (rather than Multifinder). This can be done with the “Set Startup...” menu item in the Finder. Then you will have to restart your computer.
(b) Remove INIT’s (start-up documents) from your System Folder, and then restart your computer. This will decrease the size of your System, and increase the memory available to Aspects.
(c) Decrease the size of the RAM Cache listed in the “General” device located in the Macintosh Control Panel.
